Will Solar Temp Solar Pool Panels heat my
pool?

Of course! Depending on your weather and climatic conditions, you can
expect your Solar Temp Solar Temp Heating System to:

*  Raise your pool temperature 2 to 5 degrees Centigrade each time
the water passes through the system, and

*  Raise your pool’s temperature 5 to 15 degrees Centigrade over a
period of several days of good weather.

A solar blanket will help hold in this heat at night or when it’s windy,
and can help the system be even more effective. To set up an appointment

Can it also cool my pool?

During the hottest part of the summer, running the solar system at night
can cool a pool to a more refreshing swimming temperature – down several
degrees in one night if the conditions are right.

Can pool solar panels be used to heat the house?

No. Solar pool panels and controls are designed specifically to heat a
large volume of water in a swimming pool, and to operate in temperature
ranges of 80 to 100 degrees. Household space heating and household hot
water are different applications of solar, requiring the heating smaller
volumes of household water to higher temperatures.

in solar pool heating will assure that the pool is used and enjoyed much
more. in Fact you can swim up to 10 months of the year.

How much does a Solar Temp pool heating
system cost to
operate?

Nothing, the Solar Temp Heating system forms part of your existing
swimming pool configuration. The majority of residential Solar Temp Heating Systems use
an automatically controlled valve to divert the existing filtration flow
to the solar panels, so there is no additional cost to operate the solar
pool panels. Most Pool pumps are adequate to control the flow through
the Pool Heating System. Call us today to find out if your pool pump is
suited for a Solar Temp Pool Heating System.

How long will the solar equipment last?

Solar Temp solar collectors are made of a class 9 pipe which has been
manufactured with uv stabilizes and can you expect them to last between 20 to 25 years. Thousands of Solar Temp solar
pool heating systems that were installed over 20 years ago are still
going strong.

Should I use a pool cover with a Solar Temp pool
heating system?

With a properly sized Solar Temp Heating System, a pool cover is normally not
required to keep the pool at a comfortable temperature during the normal
swimming season. However, a pool cover does help retain heat at night
and prevent evaporation loss. The cover traps the solar heat that has
been added during the day, and is very complementary to the solar
system. The solar system can be viewed as actively adding heat. The
cover retains that heat passively.

What special maintenance is required on a
Solar Temp Heating System?

Usually no special maintenance is required during the season. Modern
electronic controls allow you to “set and forget” the solar heater.

You can now heat the water in your pool to a relaxing level for swimming when it would otherwise be too cold to swim by installing solar panels. This will enable you to spend limitless hours enjoying your pool and immediately increase the value of your property.

Environmentally safe, naturally clean and non-polluting; solar heating systems uses the free energy of the sun and is therefore extremely low maintenance.

There are various types of solar heating systems but the most effective systems use inert black plastic polymers that cannot be corroded by pool chemicals or eroded by water. Special designs with individual tubes allow the roof to breath and dry out. These designs also allow for reduced wind load and the need for a complicated mounting system.

The pool pump operates the solar unit at the same time it pumps water through your filter therefore solar heating units are always incorporated into an existing filter circuit. The size and power of the pump will determine the maximum number of panels used to ensure adequate flow to your solar heating unit.

The following environmental and physical factors will be taken into account to determine the size of area covered by solar panels:

The recommended method to install solar panels is to install continuous rows. Change in the level of the roof or a skylight will require your supplier to split the layout and panels will be linked by pipes.

The heat of the water depends on the amount and intensity of sunshine (solar energy from the sun) you will therefore have cooler water in cold and rainy weather.

Solar pool panels should face north or be mounted on a flat roof to ensure optimum efficiency. Additional panels may be required if this is not possible. Very high pitch roofs and a pool that is shaded more frequently will definitely require supplementary panels.

  • Length of swimming season for your specific area
  • Location of your swimming pool
  • Whether your swimming pool is shaded
  • Surface area of the water to be heated
  • Wind factors
  • Pool temperature required
  • Direction and angle whereby the solar panels can possibly be mounted

Having a heated pool will allow you to invest in your home and add to fun family memories. Contact Solar Temp to be sure you use a reputable and reliable installer and do it right the first time.
